Award Banquet
The St. Louis Officials
Association 2008 Annual Awards banquet was held on Saturday,
November 1, 2008 at Orlando Gardens Banquet Center was
attended by approximately 90 officials and guests.
Honoree's included:
2008 Bud Miller Award - Most
Promising Football Official:
2007 Award Winner
Don Taylor presented this year's award to co-winners
Brad Hobbs and David Rabbitt.
2008 Bob Schapp
Award - 2008 winner of the Most Promising Basketball
Official was Manoli Potsou. Lou and Stacy
Potsou and Manolia's friend Jessica Brucato were present to
help Manoli celebrate.
2008 Most
Promising Volleyball Official was
Mary Sapp.
2008 Ken Braden
Award was presented to Marcella Rose by last
years winner - Mike Hoffman.
A special moment in the
program was when Greg Stoulp honored both Terry
Day and Tom O'mara with the "B" Strong pin.
This award is in Honor of Brittney Stoulp.
Joe "Red" Drabelle was inducted in the St.
Louis Officials Hall of Fame posthumously. Son Jim
Drabelle accepted the award for his dad. SLOA has been in existence
for 62 years and we only have 26 members to our Hall of
Fame.
2008 Harold
Booth Award was presented to Basketball, Baseball, and
Softball legend Jim Brickey. by last years winner Marcella Rose. Marcella noted
that Jim has worked 3 Finals in Basketball, 7 Finals in
Baseball, and 7 finals in Softball. During one school year,
Jim worked the finals in all three sports.
We started off the evening with a short cocktail
hour, The invocation by Mike Priest and a buffet dinner
presented by
Orlando Garden. This year's
MC (John Horton) kept the
evening moving along so the crowd could get to adult
beverages, dancing, and war stories. Music by Complete
Music.
